Online, A Gazillion Yellow Hats… And Me!
Yesterday. A rainy Saturday and we couldn’t (make that didn’t want to) work in the yard so we decided to make the dreaded all day monthly shopping run across the river. But… for the first time since I lost it, I really really needed my yellow rain hat. I’ve looked. I’ve asked. I’ve blogged. We’ve even called the last remembered places where we might have been on a rainy day. All to no avail. Time to get serious.
So, before we left the house, I Googled ‘women’s yellow rain hats’ to see if I might be able to replace my beloved chapeau. Not today, but ever. Requirements: bucket style; yellow waterproof material with black and white striped lining, all shiny. There were a gazillion possibilities but none quite right. The only possibility seemed to fit every requirement except that the lining was a black-and-white checkered pattern. Close enough. Available from e-bay for way too much money, but…

Click! And up comes my very own blog direct from the yellow hat page!!
Just as I was about to place my order, my very hat caught my eye! On my very head! There, amongst all the yellow hats of the world (apparently) was my FaceBook profile picture – ‘Sydney in Yellow Hat’!! And when I clicked on it, up came my “Has anyone seen my yellow hat?” blog, written on April 30th! I have to say that I was relieved that there wasn’t a price tag on either the photograph or the hat.
I was poised to order the checkered replacement but thought I’d search the house one more time. I had an ever-so-vague memory of stuffing that hat into a smallish space so I checked (again I thought) the pockets of my overnight bag and even the pockets of my winter coat (unworn for weeks and weeks) and there, rumpled and crumpled was my yellow hat! OMG!
I wore it all afternoon on the shopping expedition, even though it didn’t rain more than a drop or two. I carefully hung it on the hat rack when I got home. My life feels complete once again. Hooray for persistence! Hooray for my yellow hat!
Oh, Thank God/Goddess!!! I was about to visit every hat possibility in the greater Northwest!!!
Mine’s black and very old. Haven’t seen a replacement in the the stores. Don’t know what I’d do if I ever lost it. It crumples pretty well, too.
So glad you found it. Now I can go back to concentrated worrying about the national elections, Syria, Yemen and Zika.
Hooray, Hooray! I think most of us above a certain age can relate to tucking things someplace. Mostly, when we do it we really know it isn’t a good thing to do and sure enough we forget.
So glad that the lost is found.
