Yesterday I said to myself “Self,” said I, “no more political blogs for a while. They’ll get boring very soon.”
And then I caught a glimpse of the February 4th cover of the German magazine Der Spiegel. “Mein Gott im Himmel,” I heard myself mutter. And I was off on a quest – other magazine covers, other countries, all about the Lord Dampnut. (If the honorific is unfamiliar, check out my blog of yesterday – .https://sydneyofoysterville.com/2017/my-real-blog-about-the-fake-news/)
Wow! As one might expect, right now the most interesting covers are from the United States and most are from liberal publications. However, if I were a collector, I’d be gathering them all up as we speak. I can’t imagine that they will get any more creative. Besides, there could be an executive order dealing with censorship any day now, and you might have something really valuable for a future Antiques Roadshow!

I did pause to reflect for about half a minute. How exactly does all of this fit under the general umbrella of ‘Oysterville Daybook’ I asked myself. But no sooner was the question out of my mouth than I thought of all those bound issues of Life magazine that my father saved from the time he first subscribed back in the thirties. Granted, Trump covers of multi-national magazines aren’t quite the same… But nothing ever will be again, will it?

Hadn’t see the Village one. Not good. Hard to stay way from politics as a blogger since Trump. Hard to make gardening seem relevant at the moment.t.
