Vespers, August 3, 2014
Yesterday’s attendance at vespers was the lightest this year. Maybe the lightest for several years. Too bad. It was a great one!
Bob Walters, Bill and Janet Clark played and sang bluesy gospel songs and the whole building rocked. I talked about village outhouses past and present during my Oysterville Moment. Bonnie Masson protested that her knees were giving out during the second hymn so we just sang one verse. Pastor Jim Tweedie told about some of his musical experiences during his three month sabbatical to the Italy, the Holy Land, Turkey, Croatia and beyond. It was an hour to remember!
Oysterville Summer Vespers in its 37th Year
One woman told me afterwards that she very nearly hadn’t come. She hadn’t seen anything about it in the paper. YIKES! The Community Calendar, folks! Check out the Community Calendar. Vespers is listed every week – who’s playing, who’s officiating – even who’s doing the Oysterville Moment. Besides which, we have a vesper service every single summer Sunday from Father’s Day to Labor Day weekend. Three o’clock. Come as you are. How hard is that?
Next week it’s Brian O’Connor and Tom Trudell with Jeanne Bellinger playing the organ and artist Jean Stamper doing the Oysterville Moment. The Reverend D.J. Maddux of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Olympia will officiate. Hope to see you there
Sorry we missed it! Gabriel had important kayaking to do with GranDave and Grammy thinks she has to be ready to call the Coast Guard. ..although for Black Lake thsy might b the Ilwaco Fire Department.
