With A Big Noisy Thump In The Night

White and Frothy (Hardly Thumpy!) — My favorite Spring Rhododendrons!

I swear to you, there was a huge THUMP in the wee hours this morning.  The clock said 2:06 and it was pitchy black outside my windows.  I couldn’t imagine…

So, I bravely got up, groped my way into the library to find the lamp still on where I had been reading but everything else in apple pie order.  And it wouldn’t be the first time I’d forgotten to turn out the light…

Red for Christmas and Red again for Memorial Day!

For the heck of it, I looked at the thermostat.  Outside temperature: 52°.  At two in the morning?  Wow!  That certainly clarified things.  Spring had arrived — not with a bang or a whimper but a THUMP.

“Ok.  So I noticed you. Let’s see if you stick around,” I grumped as I headed back to bed.  And she did!  All day long!  YAY!

(Somehow I thought she’d arrive more gently.   Like on those little cat feet — though I think that is fog.)  But, when you think about it, she’s had several extra weeks to fatten up this year.  I do so hope she’s here to stay.
