“Oysterville” Poster

     Whoo Hoo!  The posters are up and around – in book stores and libraries and other likely places.  Now it’s a wait-and-see proposition.  I’m hoping that people notice, that they care, that they mark their calendars, and that they come to the party!  The anticipation is always anxiety-producing.
      There are so many factors to consider.  What other events are taking place that day?  Will the subject of the book be of interest to anyone?  Will there be a few folks who come just because they are good, supportive friends?  Will it be a wonderfully sunny day and people will go to the beach instead?  Will it rain and keep everyone home?
     I’ve given book talks in situations where there were more people than seats and, almost as often, to an audience of scarcely a half-dozen.  Truth to tell, I enjoy either kind of situation.  It’s fun to turn the “talk” into a conversation if the audience is small.  I always learn interesting bits and pieces when that’s the case.  But it’s also grand for the sponsoring organization if the audience is large and the book buying is brisk.
     Next Saturday’s “do” is sponsored by the Columbia-Pacific Heritage Museum (aka the Ilwaco Museum.)  Since the subject is Oysterville, they thought the venue should be at my place rather than at theirs.  The fun begins at 2:00 in the Oysterville Church with a short “book talk” and then we’ll cross the road and folks can party while I sign books.  Or at least that’s the plan.  See you then!
