- Ready! Set! Sun!
I’m not one for impulse buying, but yesterday I went all out – five (count ‘em, FIVE!) brightly colored Adirondack chairs and two ottomans! We are now ready for summer here in Oysterville.
Ever since artist Paul Brent gave me one of his cheerful calendars featuring a bright red Adirondack chair, I’ve known that there was one out there somewhere with my name on it. So, maybe my buying spree yesterday wasn’t exactly ‘on impulse.’ The thought has been gestating for a long time. Only the blue, gray (well, they call it light blue, but it looks gray to me), green, and pink chairs were impulse. And the ottomans. The red one was meant to be.
And, anyway, I feel the gods were on my side. There the chairs were on the sidewalk in front of Dennis Company in Long Beach. We were in the car, not the truck, and it seemed ridiculous to think that even one of those chairs would fit in our little Cruiser. But all five (plus the ottomans!) fit perfectly and came right home with us. I’ve always said the Cruiser can do it all!
We arranged the chairs on our east lawn facing the bay and the rising sun. And now they are waiting. And so are we. And just in case you drop by, I already have dibs on the red one!
How cheerful your yard looks with these gay chairs! Last year I nearly bought some lavender ones at Dennis Co., but being of a different stature than you I concluded that the Ilwaco FD would be necessary to get me up out of them. Jack’s has some old fashioned metal ones in their catalogue that come in purple. I want the glider for my porch! I love sitting on my porch in Ilwaco above most all things.
Nyel has the same complaint you do about Adirondack chairs, so he sat in these and found that they were not only comfortable, but easy to get out of. Plus they are light weight and stack. They still have the lavender ones if you want to rethink…
I love your colorful chairs. They just invite one to take a moment to sit and enjoy the outdoors.
