Nyel circa 1944
The day snuck up on us once again! Like it does every year. Today is Nyel’s birthday and we don’t have a plan in the world. I console myself that “it’s not a zero or a five” which are the only endings we really celebrate nowadays. But still…
I take further consolation in the fact that we have already gone to two fun events ostensibly “for Nyel’s birthday” – the rodeo and the Concours d’Elegance. And yesterday we took his computer to Mike for a complete overhaul plus we took an ancient computer (from our bookstore days) for consolidation purposes. And today we plan to go to CostCo to look at flat screen TVs — also, presumably, “for Nyel’s birthday.”

The Gullwing
I think the problem with an August 4th birthday is that it comes smack dab in the middle of summer which, at the beach, is always crazy with visitors and events to say nothing of yard work and outside projects (read chicken coop repairs). It never seems the right time for a big blowout celebration… or so I tell myself.
Come to think of it though, I think the Birthday Boy is scoring pretty well. I believe I can allow myself a guilt-free day. It’s really not my fault that his birthday wish is always the same – a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. Prices these days are in the US$1,000,000–2,500,000 range, according to online sources. If nothing else, that husband of mine has a rich fantasy life. Very rich.
That baby picture is adorable!
I agree with Steph….the baby photo is adorable and the grown up version is a good looking guy!
Wayne’s birthday is today also and we have a non eventful day planned too. We went to Costco last Thursday and had lunch at Baked Alaska to celebrate. It was the day of the “Shell No” demos so we were hoping to have some excitement from that. It’s fun watching the ships from their deck in any event. We send our birthday wishes to Nyel and hope every day is filled with joy and interesting things to do.
Happy birthday Nyel!
Nyel is as handsome now as he was as a baby! Have a wonderful day, Nyel!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NYLE HOPE YOUR DAY WAS AWESOME.
