Our Little Corner From Another Perspective

These bird’s-eye view pictures of Oysterville were taken by Drone Master Bob Duke and sent to me via Cate Gable.  I love them!!!  From far overhead, it all looks so neat and tidy — “picture perfect” you might say.  These were taken on July 4th, the day The Honorary Oysterville Militia fired the cannon in honor of our nation’s birthday.  Unhappily, I had to reduce the size of these photos considerably for use in this blog (Sorry, Bob!) and what appear to be cannon preparations in the lower left of the top picture are cut off.

But, all “documentation of the cannon event” aside, I just love looking at Oysterville from this bird’s-eye view.  Everything looks so neat and tidy — the buildings like the models in a diorama.   At ground level — and sound level — it’s not quite so magical, although our visitors often seem transported to another time as they wander the lanes and read the historic signs.  And, I guess some of us who live here sometimes wish that we, too, could find the peace and predictability that these photos evoke.  Operable word:  sometimes.  Mostly, the mix of motley and magic is just about right!
