In Olympia

In Olympia

Our Day Trip to Seattle yesterday included a brief stop in Olympia to “ooooh” and “aaaah” over the new house of our friends Randal, Susan, Willie, Owen and Grandpa Jim. And did I mention “YIKES!”  The house (“aaaah!”) is huge and sits on an acre and a half – covered patio/barbecue and tennis court included (“ooooh!”). The mounds of boxes-to-be-unpacked (“YIKES!”) are everywhere!

YIKES!

YIKES!

We arrived shortly before eleven. Susan had long since left for work and the guys were in various degrees of surfacing. Randal put on the coffee, Owen gave us a house tour, Willie drifted in to chat before he headed for his tenor sax up in the Music Room and Grandpa Jim (Susan’s dad) emerged shortly before we left. Everyone had something to add about the Hard Parts of the Big Move from Seattle, the Excitement of Settling In and the Uncertainties of the Next Few Weeks (read: school options for the boys).

As for us – we couldn’t have been more pleased. Over the years, we’ve visited the Bays/Waters Family from coast to coast – in Massachusetts when Willie was an infant; on Whidbey Island when Owen was just beyond toddlerhood, in Seattle when Susan gave her dissertation and became Dr. Waters and NOW almost in Oysterville!!! Well… closer, anyway, and near enough for more frequent visiting.

Speaking of which, they’ll be here staying and playing for the final Oysterville Vespers service on September 6th. “Randal Bays and Family, Irish Musicians” (clapping and cheering) direct from Olympia!
