More about Charlie as John Quincy Adams

Charlie as JQA

Charles M. Howell, IV as John Quincy Adams

Apparently, some things do move right along in Filmland.  Yesterday, son Charlie reported to wardrobe and (presumably) to be filmed in his bit part as John Quincy Adams in a new Travel Channel Series.  I think the casting call went out just a week ago.  In the meantime, he auditioned, got the part, and has a new FaceBook profile picture as JQA!

I don’t know how the filming went.  His part was to happen yesterday but he was told to block out four days ‘just in case.’  He was also assigned a small bit in a crowd scene.  I’m looking forward to getting a first-hand report eventually.  Meanwhile, hooray for Facebook!

The only additional information I have about the show is that the episode is part of a series called “Hotel Confidential.”  As I understand it, there have already been several episodes filmed, although none have yet been aired.  The premise involves real-life historic hotels with a secret – or at least unknown – past event.

The bit in which Charlie is involved deals with a rather nasty debate during the presidential campaign of 1824.  Charlie’s portrayal of John Quincy Adams is smsll – not even any lines to learn, just improvised bombast.  Since the real-life JQA actually won the election over Andrew Jackson, it would appear that this debate between them is very much incidental to the rest of the story on the television episode.  Otherwise, Charlie would surely be the star.  Said the ever-doting mom
