While I was at the Washington State History Research Center in Tacoma yesterday, the sales rep for Arcadia Publishing was on the peninsula visiting all the likely retail outlets that might be interested in carrying my new book, Oysterville. He wasn’t simply taking orders, either. He actually had a carload of books and they are now in the stores and on display – or so he told me by telephone last night. Yahoo!
He named the places that now have the book, mentioned a few more outlets that he would contact today, and asked me if I had any other suggestions. As in every other dimension of their enterprise, Arcadia is thorough. Now it’s up to the buying public.
The temptation for me, of course, is to go check out each display – to stand there and gawp at the book and stew about its placement by the bookseller. Will people see it? Does it stand out among the other books? Are any customers looking interested in it? Fortunately, I have a few other priorities today and tomorrow, so I probably won’t be out and about making myself look foolish. But, still, I’ll be wondering about Oysterville and how it’s being received here, so close to home. I hope it sells and I hope people like it!

Great! Another book to add to my growing Sydney Stevens collection!
Eager to get a copy.
