Capturing the Magic

     Listening to the mellow music of the Jazz Trio while watching Noel Thomas capture their likenesses on his sketchpad last night, was as close to magic as it gets in our house.  Our second House Concert of the season featured Dave Drury (guitar), Shelley Loring (flute), and Todd Pederson (upright bass).   Noel’s artistry was an unexpected bonus!
     We had a full house and the audience was responsive and enthusiastic, but I doubt if any one of them could have felt more blessed that I.  There is something special about being in the presence of people sharing their talents; when they happen to also be friends, I revel in my good fortune.
     And, as is the way it often happens here in Oysterville, the audience, too, was full of creative folks – at least two poets, a composer, a cellist, a sculptor – and undoubtedly others, as well.  Sitting there in my own living room, surrounded by good music and long-time friends, and feeling a bit awed by being in the midst of so much talent seemed the perfect way to spend a Sunday evening in autumn.  I loved it all.
