Signing October 17th at CostCo
Saturday, October 17th, 1:00 to 3:00, I’ll be at CostCo signing books! Who’d a thunk it? A few weeks ago History Press notified me that Ghost Stories of the Long Beach Peninsula was “purchased for sale at the Warrenton Costco warehouse for their upcoming laydown period.” They were setting me up for an “author’s event.”
I’m not exactly sure what an “upcoming laydown period” is, but you can be sure that I’ll be there with pen in hand, ready to sign. I’m not really expecting a madding crowd (whatever that is) because, after all, the book has been out for a year already. But, it has done well and continues to sell. I’m sure CostCo and History Press are hoping that there will be interest generated because of the upcoming Halloween excitement.

I’m encouraging everyone to come, whether or not they plan to purchase the book. It will just nice to be nice to see familiar faces and have some folks to chat with during my two-hour stint. The only other person I know who has had a CostCo signing is Soup Night author, Maggie Stuckey. I think it was in Portland. She said she thought she signed about ten books during her session. I would be totally happy with a double digit number like that!

Maggie also laughingly told me that the CostCo folks had noticed that chicken stock was an ingredient called for in a number of recipes in her book. Accordingly, they gathered up cans of chicken stock from their shelves and made a grand display alongside her books. The result, of course, was that people thought Maggie was there pushing a food product rather than autographing copies of Soup Night. She said she wasn’t sure whether or not that was conducive to book sales. Probably not, since there was no way to give samples!
Anyway, if you are one of the many who do an occasional shopping for basics at CostCo, I hope you can time your next trip for October 17th! Come by and say “hello” and buy a book if you are so inclined. I’ll be happy to personalize it for you!
We’ll be heading to Longview for a benefit! We’ll have to stop by!
So exciting! Mystery Book Club will be there with bells and candles on!
