Ghost Stories Of The North Beach, my long-awaited (by me, anyway) book in Kindle Format has been published and is ready for those with Kindle readers to download. It’s available through Amazon.com and can actually be purchased directly from my website, www.sydneyofoysterville.com. Just find the book title and click on the Amazon link on the lower left. It’s $7.99 and I’ve already been told by one buyer that it is a bargain. And, it’s just in time for Halloween reading!
The book contains nine ghost stories, all of which were published in the Chinook Observer during 2008. One, “Mrs. Crouch, The Preacher’s Wife” has been somewhat changed since then because new information about Mrs. C. has come to light. I love it when that happens! That’s what makes researching historical information a delight and a challenge at the same time.
Originally, when I was writing the stories in the series, my primary interests were in the buildings that harbor the ghosts and in the people who have lived in those buildings. All of structures – eight houses and one hotel – are here on the peninsula and all of them are at least 100 years old. In some of the buildings, ghost activity has been talked of for generations. Most of those who spoke with me about the ghosts live, or have lived, in one of those buildings and most have had actual experiences with ‘someone or something’ mysterious.
Am I, myself, a believer in ghosts? All I can say is that, even though I have had my own unexplained experiences (which are told in the book), I’m not sure what I think. Actually, what I think is that each reader will have to decide for him or herself. I’d be very interested in learning people’s reactions after they have read the book!

Alas, I went with the Barnes and Noble Nook not the Kindle. It is a shame that the Kindle you can only get books from their website for reading. Being the conservative buyer that I am, I wanted an ebook that I could download from Timberland Library and other free sites.
I don’t like to admit that I use a Kindle as I love beautiful books. However I’ll come out of the closet to recommend Ghost Stories of the North Beach. I downloaded the book this weekend – I remember some of the stories from the Chinook Observer but this is much easier to read in bed!
What perfect timing Sydney. My daughter gave me a Kindle for my birthday in appreciation for helping her get her degree. (There goes her Sept. paycheck!) But what a sweet surprise. Your book will be my 2nd download!
