“The Day After” is usually a bittersweet day, at least if the day before was a big event for which you were responsible,  There’s clean-up to do – lots of clean-up – and there are ongoing conversations that begin, “Did you get a chance to talk to…” And there are the regrets that some friends and family couldn’t be there.

On the other hand, there are folks who hang around an extra day to take you out to breakfast and to help schlep chairs and tables and wash champagne flutes and put away croquet sets.  There are more folks who bring oysters over for the Day After Dinner and tell you about the people they met and enjoyed during the festivities and load photographs onto your computer!

And then there are those pesky afterthoughts like why didn’t I think to gather together the folks who had been to our wedding and who had made it back to our 25^th celebration on Sunday?  It was the obvious photo op that never occurred to any of us.  Or what about taking a group photo of everyone who came?

Our friend Te Davis (who was at both events but why has she not changed one iota in all that time?) was among the dinner guests last night and took a few minutes to transfer 200+ photographs from her camera’s memory chip to my computer.  I’ve only had time for a glimpse so far but Nyel and I plan to take a closer look later today.

Other friends have promised to send their pictures as well.  I’m so glad about that.  We were way too busy having fun to remember to take pictures and the only good ones on my camera were taken for me by friends who saw the problem and came to the rescue.

We will be looking and enjoying and basking in the afterglow for a long time to come!
