I’m sure that there must be some places as busy or even busier than the Peninsula, but I would be hard pressed to say where.  It seems that not a day goes by that we or someone we know isn’t getting reading for something – a festival, a fund-raiser, an art show – something.  And whether we are directly involved or not, it’s usually an event that we want to go to or support.  Sometimes just thinking about it is exhausting.

Yesterday, for instance, a group of Water Music notables gathered in front of the Oysterville Church to have their picture taken.  Apparently, the photograph is scheduled to be on the cover of Coast Magazine next week – just in time for the big Water Music Festival weekend October 12^th  to 14^th.  One of their many venues (probably the most photogenic one) is the Church and thus the photo.

Meanwhile, the staff at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum is busily getting ready for the Cranberrian Fair, also scheduled for the weekend of October 13^th/14^th!   I don’t think those two big events are usually planned for the same time period, but it would not surprise me to learn that we’ve run out of weekends!  On the plus side, it gives us lots of “options.”  On the minus side, of course, we want “to do it all!”

Today, I’m doing a little of my own gearing up to get ready for tonight’s launch of the Community Historian Project.  It, too, is happening at the Heritage Museum from 5:00 to 7:00 this evening.  I’m told that quite a crowd is expected and no wonder!

Not only is it the kick-off of an exciting new opportunity to learn about and share Pacific County history, but the Willapa Hills are performing, as well!  And, unless I get another last minute “assignment,” my job is to introduce them!

I am aglow with anticipation.  Not much gearing up needed.  As the saying goes, I am pumped!
