For the multitudes? No, just us!

Fit for a King!

Fit for a King!

I don’t feel a bit guilty. Well… maybe just a tad. Yesterday afternoon, when our friend Phil brought us a bag full of salmon – “It was swimming at noon…” – I had the fleeting thought that we should invite the neighbors in for a feast. But, the reality around here is that I am doing well to get three meals a day prepared for my immobilized husband, so asking in the multitudes didn’t seem doable. So… we pigged out. And will do so again today.

As a matter of fact, we’ve been eating like lords every single day. Our generous friends have been bringing food faster than we can manage. “This also freezes well,” are words that often accompany the tasty treats as they arrive at the door and I feel like the proverbial squirrel stocking the larder for winter. Or at least to see us through the next eight weeks.

Only the Candlelight is Missing!

Only the Candlelight is Missing!

Yes! We are into Week Four already! Like all of those life situations that just require ‘time,’ the days seem long and yet pass by in a blur of nurse/patient activities – the bathing, the dressing, the transferring to commode or wheelchair, the meals, the meds, the ice packs, the cups of tea or glasses of orange juice. Then maybe a precious hour for a nap.

And in between, Nyel does crosswords, watches DVDs, does business on the computer for Mrs. Stevens’ ABCs or for the Oysterville Restoration Foundation, plays solitaire, and enjoys his visitors. I do my blog (at odd hours), plan for the Grays Harbor College EdVenture I’m leading on October 11th, prepare for the appeal (October 14th) of the current Oysterville vacation rental application, feed and water chickens and cat and try to solve problems caused by the crash of my hard drive . Sometimes I remember to go get the mail.

I think today will be fantastic! All that gorgeous salmon under our belts and more in the frig. Aren’t all those Omega 3s supposed to perk up your brain cells? Pump up your heart? Ease your arthritis? I’m sure we are exhibiting all of the above. Thanks, Phil!
