Déjà vu last autumn at our house!

Nyel Porching It In The Sun!

Mostly last summer our social life involved Garden Visits with our friends — socially distanced, outside, and no masks if we’d all been vaccinated.  In the fall, when omicron reared its ugly head, we were more likely to have Porch Visits —  maybe standing up for those who were able (as they say in church). More often-than-not we were masked,  and  the visits were of a short duration.  Usually, Nyel stuck his head out from the doorway, or braved the wind and chill factor and came into the south garden in his electric (outside) wheelchair — almost part of the group, but not quite.

Yesterday, when Casey and Cynthia arrived for a Porch Visit, we finally found a way to get Nyel onto the porch and into the thick of it all!  I (cleverly – duh!) put his extra non-electric wheelchair (which usually lives in the car) onto the porch right in front of the door and Nyel managed to transfer from his inside wheelchair to the extra chair — slick as a whistle.  So, today, we did it again!

And there he sat, in the sun wearing his Irish fisherman’s hat and his spiffy new photochromic glasses, sipping his cup of tea, and reading his Tapas Cookbooks from the library. Seventh Heaven!  And the weatherman says we’re in for several more days of this.  WOOT! WOOT!
