And now it’s the Cannon Season!

Virg and Tucker move the replica 1842 Mountain Howitzer out of its winter quarterss.

Even when the sun is shining and the sky is blue and the rhododendrons are out in all their glory, there is still a little bit of historic ambiance missing here in Oysterville until the cannon is escorted out of its winter quarters.  And today was the day!1

Cannon Placement to Perfection!

Since my cousin Virg was still here and Tucker was just walking by the house, I boldly asked if they would mind getting the cannon out for the season.  Tucker later kindly said that, as Adjutant General, I didn’t really need to ask…  Which I guess means that I could just give an order.  Wow!  Now that idea had never occurred to me!  (But it might next time!)

So now we  are in readiness for the first cannon event of the year — Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m.  Come on over and help us honor friends and family who are no longer with us as we get the 2024 Cannon Season off to a good start!  Many of those we will be honoring were Founding Members of The Honorary Oysterville Militia in 2004.  Their names may be seen on the bronze plaque next to the cannon.

Ready for Another Historic Oysterville Season!

Cuzzin Sydney, I bet Virg and Tucker were actually itchin’ to “test fire” the cannon after they brought it out of the mothballs. Sounds like y’all had a great time “chez Maude!”
