The ORF Website

In the last ten days, Oysterville’s presence on the World Wide Web has dramatically increased.  The Oysterville Restoration Foundation’s (ORF) website at http://www.oysterville.org/ has a bright new look and is, for the first time in years, full of current news!  In addition, we now have a FaceBook page which came up before I had typed Oys in the search box.  Though it’s only been up for a day or two, its ‘Friends’ list is already growing.

All of this recent activity can be credited to our new interim ORF board member, Amy Wachsmuth.  Bless her!  For years she had been a willing ‘technical advisor’ to some of us old ducks in town, even taking time from her family vacations at the beach to give tutorials to us techy-neophytes. Typically, we would update the ORF website for as long as our short-term memory allowed and then it would lie fallow for months or even years, much to the distress of some of our Oysterville neighbors.

Amy is the daughter-in-law of Tucker and Carol Wachsmuth.  She is the wife of Charley and the mother of Danielle and Gabi and has worked in that mysterious world of cyberspace for a good many years.  Amy and family live in Portland and recently acquired a bit of property in Oysterville entitling them to membership in ORF.  The ink was scarcely dried on the deed before Amy was asked to sit on the board in an interim position with the specific assignment of ORF Webmaster.  That she readily agreed I consider one of the miracles of the millennium.  (It’s not like she has a lot of ‘free time’ to devote to our little historic village and its online presence.)

I do hope Oysterville Daybook readers will check out the sites, friend them, and interact with them.  And spread the word!   Those sites are the next best thing to being here in person!
