Hallelujah! Raise the flag!

The Andrews Garage, Oysterville Memorial Day 2010

It’s Flag Day – reason enough to celebrate, but I’ve been looking forward to June 14th this year for a different reason entirely.  It’s the publication date of my new book Oysterville.  Never mind that I’m not quite clear about what that means.
I know that it doesn’t mean the date it is to be printed for the simple reason that I received  five complimentary author’s copies about a month ago.  They look terrific!  Publication date, or the “pub date” as Arcadia Publications calls it, must mean the day that the books show up at bookstores and distributors.  Or, at the very least, the day you can actually order them.  If you tried yesterday, you had to pre-order; today, you may luck out and find it in stock at your local bookseller’s.
No matter when or where you get Oysterville, do plan on coming to the book party here in the village of Oysterville on June 26th at 2:00.  I’ll be doing a little talk at the church – telling some of the behind-the-scenes information – and then we’ll adjourn to my garden across the street for refreshments and signings.
The event is being sponsored by the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum and they will have plenty of books on hand for sale.  Or, if you’ve already made your purchases elsewhere, bring them along.  I’ll be glad to personalize them for you.  (Notice how I’m using the plural.  I know you’ll want them for your friends and relatives!)  See you Saturday, June 26th!
