“Oysterville” by Sydney Stevens

     Every once in awhile I Google myself just to see what the world thinks I’m up to.  It is always enlightening, especially since Sydney Stevens appears to be a fairly common name.  I find that Sydney Stevens is a singer with a number of CDs to her credit; Dr. Sydney Stevens has a radiology practice in Palm Desert; and Author/Historian Sydney Stevens (that would be me!) has a new book due out soon.
     The information about the book is just a tad confusing.  According to amazon.com Oysterville, from Arcadia Publishing, is due out June 14^th.  Powell’s Books in Portland says only “June.”  Tower Books, however,  lists the publication date as June 1^st.  That one is wrong;  June 14^th is right.  Several sites already are showing the cover picture and  have picked up a description of the book and one of me, as well, from the back cover.  One site even has a used copy listed!  I wonder how that works?
     What all those sites don’t say is that there will be a big book launch party here in Oysterville on Saturday, June 26^th.  The event will be sponsored by the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum.   The plan:  we will gather at the Oysterville Church where I will discuss the book with a power point program based on many of Oysterville’s historic photographs; then we will adjourn to our garden across the street for refreshments and book signings.  Mark your calendars!
