For the first time ever, I think I was fired. The weird part is that the whole thing was backward. I was actually the one trying to hire someone to help me with the Kindle/e-book process. This was a person highly recommended by a fellow-author – a person I was introduced to through the internet. We were, I thought, exploring the possibilities of readying my ghost stories for virtual publication. I have the stories; he has the expertise in “conversion.” Plus, I had seen his price list and he was extremely reasonable. Should’ve been a clue…
We exchanged several emails – mine, admittedly, full of questions and angst. He kindly offered to send me a “sample” Kindle version of one of my stories. Great! Predictably, I had more questions, one of which was “Don’t we need to sign a contract?” “Later,” I was told.
Altogether we exchanged twelve emails. I must have asked one too many questions or expressed my feelings of discouragement too clearly because the final word from the erstwhile ‘expert’ was: “I will spend no further time with this. I suggest you find another conversion service.” Whew! I felt blindsided. Well, I guess I was – it came from cyberspace, after all.
Another of life’s lessons learned (again!). You do get what you pay for – in this case nothing for nothing. No big loss, except to my self-esteem – and I’m back to square one with my ghost story project.
Ouch!

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and very broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
