Nyel – 3/16/22
The Wizards say that Nyel will be here for at least another week. “And at this point,” they told him… he may want to think about whether he wants to continue coming up here for periodic (and more frequent) hospital stays or whether he would prefer (as many patients do at this point) to arrange for palliative care at home.
Nyel didn’t miss a beat: “We’ll keep coming up here as long as that’s feasible,” he said. What a guy! My heart aches for him but, somehow, we’ll find a way to give him the best shot possible! As we speak, I’m researching my own options — where to stay, how to get back and forth, and how to ever repay everyone’s kindnesses to us…

Café Allegro
Meanwhile, the sun is shining here in Oz and the hustle-bustle of the U District reminds me of the days that Nyel and I were courting — when he was working on his M.A. in Museum Studies at U-Dub, of the hours we spent at the Burke Museum and at the Café Allegro in the Alleyway, and of his graduation when the passer-out-of-caps-capes-and-gowns thought he said “musician” not “museum” and he received his degree wearing pink and surrounded by a number of like-gowned strangers while my folks and I looked on and wondered!
Who’duh thunk that he’d end up hosting a gazillion House Concerts and becoming Head Curator of one of the oldest houses on the Peninsula and, then, coming back to the UW to have his wonderful big heart fine-tuned again and again? Who’duh ever thunk it…
So incredibly poignant and sweet, Sydney.
Hugs, Cass
Sending warm thoughts, strength and hugs to you both for a successful climb of the mountain ahead of you.
Blessings and hope Nyel recovers okay and you keep on living on the upside of life! Prayers for both of you!! Debbie
Sydney: I’m headed north Sunday. Will check in and stop by for hugs or tea as soon as feasible. Big love CG
Locking arms with you in my heart.
Come. Y and say hello! I miss you two and think of you often!!!
We think of you and your family so often. We’ll try to work something out so we can say “hello.”
