“Birds Eye View” by Charles Funk

The 6 x 6 Art Show and Auction is coming up! Mark your calendars – Saturday, November 14th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ilwaco Museum. This is ‘the sixth annual’ and, as the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum website states, this year “it has gone to the birds!” The event is the largest single fund-raiser for the CPHM and, besides being for a good cause, it’s always great fun!

The artwork – mostly two-dimensional as in paintings, drawings, and photographs (but not necessarily) – is in a six-inch by six-inch format. Entries are submitted by local artists and can be previewed on the CPHM website at http://columbiapacificheritagemuseum.com/news-events-2/6-x-6-art-show-and-auction/.

“Quoth” by Wendi Peterson

Auctioneer Extraordinaire Bruce Peterson keeps things lively as do many of those vying for specific works of art. Legendary in the ‘vying’ category is Karla Nelson (Time Enough Books) who has successfully outbid everyone in the room, year-after-year for “The Sock Monkey” artwork. (It’s not that you had to be there – you can have a front row seat this time around and see what I’m talking about. It’s sure to happen again!)

Tickets for the auction event are currently available at the Museum for $10.00 each. Fifty (50) raffle tickets are being made available for $20 each. The raffle winner will have the pick of any 6×6 prior to the Auction event. Call the Museum at 360-642-3446 for more information about the auction, raffle, and exhibition.

“Guarding the Flock” by Nancy Campiche

The theme of the auction coordinates the “Birds of a Feather” exhibition opening one week from today, on Thursday, October 29th (mark your calendar again! – reception from 5:00 to 7:00 that evening!) and running until March 6, 2016. The main room of the Special Exhibition Gallery will be devoted to the work of five artists whose pieces include wood carvings, photographs, paintings, ceramics and quilts, all showing a great affinity for birds.
