Out of Sync; Out of Patience

I’m glad the month is wearing down. It’s been a hard one. My stars must be out of alignment or my karma is catching up with me or I’m just going through a bad patch. You know… one of those time periods when you should just stay in bed until you are back in sync with the world.

Mostly, it’s an accumulation of little annoyances. Like when the County sent out “packets” to all the property owners in Oysterville but we didn’t get one. When we called, we had to argue a bit (can’t you copy someone else’s?) and when a second “packet” finally came to us, it only contained one of the two information sheets.

Or, when the article I wrote for the Observer about the first Oysterville Schoolhouse 2015 Fall Lecture series didn’t show up in last week’s paper. A phone call revealed that it had inadvertently been “overlooked.”

Or, yesterday, when I had some routine bloodwork done at the Ocean Beach Clinic and they called to say that they had neglected to put my name on the vial and, even though it was in an official bag that did have my name on it, the lab couldn’t process it. “Rules are rules.” So would I please come back so they could poke me again?

To say nothing of the minor glitches to every new-fangled, state-of-the-art device in the household from digital camera and TV dish to modem and wifi extender!

As I say, nothing big. It all comes under the heading of ‘Shit Happens.’ But the fact that hardly a day has gone by in September without some annoyance or other does make me wonder what’s going on. I’m hoping that the month will end with no other vexations. I am SO ready for October and a fresh start — at least on the calendar!

Some of us. But I notice that others just skate on through…

I fully agree. September has been a tempestuous month for me, also. Tomorrow is October; I am rejoicing. I hope your October is much more enjoyable than September!
