Garden Corner

Yesterday, shortly after I had made arrangements for someone to do some serious work in our garden, Marta sent a batch of photographs she had taken during the time she was here. What an eye she has! And if only everyone else could see our garden the same way! Not a weed in sight. No slug damage visible. No lawn that needs to be mowed and baled! Everything looked perfect.

It wasn’t only our garden, of course. Her photographs of Oysterville and of us old folks were lovely, too. They used to say the camera doesn’t lie and I think that’s still true as far as it goes. It’s the enhancing after the shutter click is done that can make an image less truthful. But, in this case, what Marta saw with her android smart phone is what she sent.

I’m hoping that my visitors today see things in a similar fashion. They are coming on a little bus for a historic tour of Oysterville. It will include a visit to the church, lunch at our house, and a walk around town if everyone is able. The day-long bus outing is called an Edventure and is part of Grays Harbor College’s continuing education program.

Picnic Folks

This particular sort of tour is a first for me. Although it centers in Oysterville, we will be driving through the other historic communities of the Peninsula (actually, that would be all of them!) and I will be telling a bit about each. I’m not concerned about what to say; only about how much time I’ll have to say it. And, of course, I’m hoping that the weather holds. No matter how magical a place is, a sunny day – or at least a non-rainy day – goes a long way toward enhancing the experience.

So here’s to our visitors! May they enjoy their time on the Peninsula and in Oysterville and carry home weed-free memories of their day here!
