Everyone in town this week has had an animal or birds-and-bees story. Even the tourists! “An older gentleman” who Carol Wachsmuth met walking through town told her that, even though he and his wife only get here once a year, they were avoiding School Street this time because there was a doe in the schoolyard nursing her fawn. What thoughtful visitors!

Apparently, three fawns (that we know of) were born in town last week – the one at the school house, another behind Charlotte and Jake’s house, and one on Mark and Terri’s property. Of course, my reaction upon hearing that news was “aahhhh” and “oooohhh” like everyone else’s. That, and to double check our supply of Deer Fence.
Evening Visitor

I didn’t feel quite as warm and fuzzy, though, when Betsy sent the picture of the bear striding on out across her front yard. She took the picture from an upper window just after she arrived home from our ‘Five-to-Seven Friday Night’ gathering. Think about it. Had she been five minutes earlier, they could have met on her walkway. Or maybe even strolled to the house in tandem.
And yesterday, Tucker gave me a thumb drive containing a folder marked “For Sydney.” On it were 55 photographs that, with the exception of one or two, were of the birds and bees and beasts around town. Fabulous!
A lot is happening out there while I’m hard at it in front of this computer. I really must try to get out more…
Today’s blog ouched my Mother Nature heart! And the swallows? How are their building projects proceeding? A bear in the garden? Oh, the joys of life in the village. Thank You!
