No question up here in Oly--lots of storm damage to clean up. I lost one of my favorite dogwoods, and that's rather hard. On the bright side, once I get it cut and stacked, I'll have plenty of emergency firewood for the stove next year!

You are so right Stephanie, and I think that is what I love about the fashion presentations given at Teas... it transports us to a simpler time, even though the fashions were much more complicated! I have done a couple programs for Deepwood, and it is always a pleasure to "share" in the gracious home! LaRee Johnson

Ms. Johnson sounds fabulous and I wish I could attend. Deep Woods in Salem, Oregon used to have a docent who put on Victorian teas that show cased historical fashions and traditions as well as food. It was like a little trip back in time and while women have made great strides in equality, there is something of the grace of earlier times that has gotten lost in our frantic 21st Century lives. I look forward to reading about your afternoon.

Jo introduced me to" The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society" and it was the impetus of our attempt to have tea and read aloud here in Gig Harbor. It never really got off the ground, but when I become a fulltime resident on the Peninsula I hope I can be considered an honorary Oystervillite and attend yours!

As you know, Sydney, I share your love of February and always have for all the reasons you've written about. In first grade I was in a class of 40 so I really hauled in the Valentines! And frequently we get the very best weather in February. True, it snowed quite a bit in '89, but it has become a joke between myself and my best friend, whose birthday is the day after mine, that we more often than not get temps in the '60s and we have gone a number of places around the NW to celebrate. Our fingers are crossed that the weather will be fair for our birthdays on the Peninsula this year, but we will have a grand time even if it blows.
